Lester Jesberg reviews our 2010 Eden Valley Dry Riesling in Winewise Magazine’s June edition –

  • "Chief Winemaker, Andrew Wigan knows a thing or two about Riesling, and this wine demonstrates that perfectly.  Attractive and fragrant floral aromas leap out of the glass, leading to a delicate palate full of intense limey flavours with a touch of minerality.  This wine is vibrant and lingering.  Excellent value.”

Amanda Allison of the Vines Magazine reviews PLW’s 2009 Barossa Blonde

  • “This personable and playful mix of Riesling, Chenin Blanc, Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc matches the charismatic and enchanting blonde on the label to a T. Peaches and honey lie under bright citrus and crisp apple. This is as bright and glossy as a yellow sports car and is an ideal wine for a night in with friends.”

Canada's second-largest circulation wine magazine, Wine Access reviews a few of PLW’s top shelf reds –

2005 Mentor Cabernet Sauvignon

  • “The ’05 Mentor is a nice step up in ripeness and roundness, which may surprise, given it’s a rare, 100 per cent Cabernet Sauvignon edition from 60 year old vines.  It’s aged for 18 months in French oak – another reason to pay attention.  We love the richness and loss on entry and the powerful minty, cedar, black fruit flavours that run the length of the wine.  You can easily drink this now with a T-bone steak or lamb, or cellar it for up to 5 years.  Well done; good value.  91 points.”

2004 Eight Songs Shiraz

  • “Peppery, prune, menthol, black plum, leather, tobacco, coffee, chocolate, liquorice root, cola barnyard aromas.  Dry, fresh, round, but slightly tight, with some light tannin.  Smoky, leather, pruny, cooked blueberry, coffee, black olive, peppery, liquorice, resin, menthol, tobacco leaf flavours.  A somewhat cooked style that is ready to drink.  89 points.”

2007 The Futures Shiraz

  • “Peppery, savoury, spicy, cola, smoked meat, barnyard, cedar, smoked leather aromas.  Dry, full, but somewhat lean palate, with juicy acidity and some light tannins.  Smoky, meaty, peppery, black cherry, liquorice root, vnilla, coffee, rooty, prune and tobacco leaf flavours.  Finish is warm and fresh, with light tannin to shed.  88 points.”

2006 Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon

  • “ Black olive, tobacco leaf, green bean, coffee grind, peppery, somewhat reduced aromas.  Round, fresh, juicy palate with light tannins.  Cassis, peppery, smoky, olive, leather tobacco leaf, cedar, stemmy and coffee flavours.  Better flavours than the somewhat herbal nose would suggest.  Solid wine for beef.  87 points.”

The 2008 Layers Red is Wine of the Week in About.com, the online help guide owned by The New York Times. Wine critic Stacy Slinkard says the wine is aptly named for its lushes layers of flavor and says the grapes “put their best varietal foot forward.”
